Description

Summary: The famous Yamaha red label, built in the Nippon Gakki factory in 1972. This FG-150 is in fantastic shape and sounds beautiful. It has just been setup and restrung by our in-house luthier with a new set of 12s and it plays great with comfortable action and a straight neck. It ships in a chipboard case and we will ship if professionally packed and fully insured.

Body: Spruce top with b/w/b binding, mahogany back with black binding and mahogany sides. Topped off with a tortoise pickguard. This concert sized Yamaha is 4” wide & 15” across the lower bout.

Neck: The mahogany neck has a nice full profile, rosewood fretboard, pearl dots, bone nut, 25” scale length and 1.75” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: No pickup, original smooth turning Yamaha branded open back tuners that hold tune wonderfully, rosewood bridge with bone saddle and a single black strap button at the butt end.

Cosmetics: This Yamaha is in phenomenal condition for its age. There are some pick scratches on the pickguard and body, 2 minor dents in the top and some light scuffs around the back and sides that one would expect to see on a guitar that’s nearly 50 years old. The neck is smooth and free of any dents or dings. There are no breaks, cracks or structural issues to mention.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 12s and it is playing beautifully with comfortable action and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots. The action at the 12th fret is 2.5mm on the high E and 3.5mm on the low E.

Modifications: The nut has a shim underneath it but it was done well and the open notes ring clear and this instrument is buzz free because of it.

Weight: 3 lbs, 12 oz.

Case: This Yamaha FG-150 comes with a chipboard case and we will ship it professionally packed and fully insured!
