Walnut on Maple top that’s mellowed to almost a honey blonde depending on the light, some quite attractive figure on the center panel, lovely yellowed binding and headstock inlay, and speaking of inlay, the defining feature of the Artisan was its distinctive fingerboard hearts-and-flowers pattern and the thin pre-war script Gibson logo. Otherwise a fairly straightforward late ‘70s 3-pickup Les Paul Custom features-wise, non-sandwich mahogany body, 3-piece maple neck with volute, 1 11/16” nut width, ebony fingerboard, original Gold tuners. The previous owner installed new gold pickup covers and hardware. The neck and bridge pickups are the original Tar Back humbuckers while the middle pickup is a 70’s Gibson Patent Stamp humbucker. The original bridge and tailpiece are in the case. Plays and sounds great, no issues, an unusual and very cool Norlin Les Paul Custom variant. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, and comes in its original hard case.
