Description
This is one of the most well known Basses in the world made famous by Paul McCartney of the Beatle’s. Paul bought his 1st Hofner, known as the “Cavern” Bass from the German Club, because of its lightweight & a cheap price of about 30 pounds. Paul’s 2nd Hofner was a 1963 very similar to our Bass & he still owns it & tours on it to this day. This cool & clean ’66 example of ours just in from a friend from Sweden is from a transitional period right after the Beatles started to invade America. Its Sunburst finish is incredibly clean & quite cool in all respects. It has a bound/dot inlay fingerboard on a 3 piece maple neck w/a stencil Hofner gold logo. It also has a cool period Hofner decal on the back of the headstock. It has its original closed back tuning machines used only during this 2-3 year period. Its body has a plain maple top over a flamey maple back & sides. It has a pair of transitional Pickups that have 4 adjustable pole & 4 staple pole pieces. It has the newer type pickup surrounds w/top adjustment screws like a Gibson. It has a larger period pearloid control plate w/gold capped knobs & shorter tailpiece. Its has a perfect original pearloid pickgard too. It is an exceptional player in Exceptionally clean all original condition & comes w/its original Black shaped hard case.
