Beach Boys Owned and Played 1 of 1 1972 Fender "The Mod" Lucite Prototype Solid Body Electric Guitar, Weight: 9.6 lbs. Owned and played by Beach Boy Carl Wilson, this stunning relic has been well documented over the years. The guitar appeared in a 1972 Fender/Beach Boys promotional photo and was also used during the recording of the band's 1973 release, Holland. Called "The Mod" during it's conceptual phase, this 1 of 1 guitar was designed by Roger Rossemeisl, creator of the Fender Coronado and Telecaster Thinline. It features several unique innovations including two holes through the body to solve the wight problems generally associated with lucite guitars. It also utilizes Seth Lover's Wide Range humbuckers found on the Telecaster Custom and Deluxe. Another cool feature is the black anodized hardware which is only found on this guitar. While "The Mod" would prove to be too expensive to put into production, the shape of the body and headstock would later be used on the Fender Starcaster. The guitar remains all original with no repairs or modifications and includes the original black Fender hard case. A true museum piece if there ever was one. Condition: Very Good.
